We had a long flight on Saturday (8 hours). Several things helped pass the time on the plane. Each seat had a TV screen to choose movies, programs, or games. I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and played a few games. You could also follow the progress of the trip on a screen that showed where
the plane was and how much was left. We were served a hot dinner. This was the first time I ate a hot meal on a plane.
We arrived in Lima around 1130 PM. When we got off
the plane we went through the Aduana. There was a long line of people. They checked our passports and papers my dad had filled out on the plane. Then we got our luggage and a taxi van took us to the place we stayed overnight.
The bed and breakfast was cool. We had breakfast in the kitchen where two ladies made eggs for us. After breakfast we packed up and went back to the airport for our flight to Cusco. This was a short flight. On the way we saw some snow on the Andes mountains.
When we landed, we picked up our luggage and then went to meet the Shultz
family and Derrick Brubaker outside the airport. We arrived at the home of Ron, Regina, Hannah, Jeremiah and Bethany. They helped us settle in and we had a delicious lunch which included soup and coca tea. This is supposed to help us get adjusted to the altitude.
After lunch we opened suitcases and shared some of the stuff we had brought
for the Promesa school and the Shultz family. We played Apples to Apples, watched a movie and went for a walk. We also checked the football scores on the internet and found out that both the Eagles and the Cowboys won.
Day 3
We had a good night sleep. We are going to take a taxi from Cusco to Ollanta this morning. We will ride on a train from there to Aguascalientes this afternoon. Tomorrow morning we visit Machu Picchu.
